RED SAIL SPORTS CELEBRATES 20 YEARS IN GRAND CAYMAN!
Time flies when you are diving, sailing, skimming the waves, and
having a blast with Red Sail Sports! So it has seemed to all of us
here at RSS as we look back on 20 years of successful growth in the
Cayman Islands. Like most companies, we started small, responding to
Cayman's growing tourism business by opening an initial operation in
1987. We had two dive boats, one small sundry store, some water
surfing and sailing equipment, a few beach toys and 25 no-holds-bar,
rockin' employees who knew how to keep the customer happy. Our first
catamaran arrived a few months later.
"The business was an immediate success," said Rod McDowall, Operations
Manager. "We were well received and quickly set new standards in the
dive and watersports industry on Grand Cayman." By raising the bar and
keeping it high, RSS built on its reputation for excellence and
expanded its operations. Today, RSS Grand Cayman boasts seven
watersports centers, eight retail outlets and 135 employees.
We are proud of our growth and proud that it has enabled us to give
back to our friends in the Grand Cayman community. RSS has long been
recognized as a strong supporter of youth sports and school programs
and looks forward to more years of similar partnerships.
We could not be who we are today without our loyal customers, our

20 AWESOME YEARS...
1987 - Opens concurrently with the Hyatt Regency as Nick's Aqua
Sports. 25 new hires and two dive boats take the plunge!
1988 - Launches first luxury catamaran, the Spirit of Ppalu.
1989 - Changes name to 'Red Sail Sports' and expands retail
location on Hyatt beach.
1992 - Builds custom dive boat for North Wall diving.
1994 - Opens a dive, watersports & retail operation at the
Radisson Hotel (now Marriott).
1995 - Opens at the Westin Resort and expands fleet to include
another catamaran and two new dive boats.
1996 - Establishes retail, dive & watersports at Rum Point.
1998 - Begins service from Indies Suites.
2000 - Operates watersports at Royal Palm Cruise Beach.
2001 - Adds Spirit of Poseidon to the cat fleet. Forms a DMC to
service large groups at hotels. Opens at Morritt's Resort by
purchasing Tortuga Divers and Cayman Windsurf.
2002 - Opens at Holiday Inn (now Courtyard by Marriott)
2005 - Cruises along Seven Mile Beach with new catamaran, the
Spirit of Calypso.
2006 - Partners with The Ritz-Carlton to provide catamaran and
diving services to guests.
2007 - Red Sail Sports looks forward to the next 20 AWESOME years!
